How to Find the R. I. G. H. T. Consultant

Return to Special Articles

When you find a consultant who interests you, set up a meeting. Most consultants provide this service at no charge. Interview them to see if they are R. I. G. H. T. for your project.

Relationship Builds The chemistry must be right. Does this "independent" consultant know how to be a virtual partner with your team?

Intellectual Versatility The consultant should be able to think logically and creatively without undo influence from personal bias. Do they listen to your ideas or just try to sell their own?

Group Process Skills The consultant should be able to give examples of how they have worked with other HR teams successfully. Can he/she crate a positive environment both for the HR team and the learners to achieve desired results?

HR Department Looks Good The consultant realizes the importance of always making the internal HR department look good. Does the consultant seem to be motivated by ego or personal gain or do they have respect for their role within your organization?

Talent and Expertise The consultant should have the experience and knowledge level necessary for the project. Can they acquire a good working knowledge of your business including structure, power networks, language, and customer needs? Can they then deliver the learning in an interesting, relevant, and impactful way that satisfies the business goals?
