Coping With People Who Drive You Crazy
Return to Skill Booster Programs
Program DescriptionDo you have to deal with people who are "difficult?" The fact is that there are "difficult" people virtually everywhere. They can make your life stressful and unpleasant, and prevent you from achieving your important goals if you let them. We all experience frustration in dealing with others. The key to dealing with "difficult" people is using intelligent emotional self-management first, then practical problem solving techniques second.
This program is designed to be informative and interactive. Participants will begin the workshop with a slightly stressful experiential activity that will help highlight differences in accomplishing a task. We will explore our own reaction to stressful events and people. We will learn techniques for managing our own reactions. The techniques are based on the work of Dr. Daniel Goleman in his book Emotional Intelligence. We will also practice problem solving and professional assertiveness skills so we can speak up about what needs to be fixed in our relationships.
